Enterprise AI · ChatGPT Enterprise

ChatGPT Enterprise, set up and run properly.

We set up ChatGPT Enterprise for your company, join it to your systems, and coach each team until it is part of the work.

What do we set up?

ChatGPT Enterprise is OpenAI’s own service, run from an Admin Console that holds your identity, domains, single sign‑on and directory sync, with workspaces under it. It is sold through a sales contract, with credit or usage pricing.1 Most people already know the tool, so the work is in what surrounds it: who gets in, what it can reach, and what each team does with it.

How does it run, step by step?

In OpenAI’s own order, with where each step trips companies up and what we do about it.

  1. 01Verify the domain

Add a DNS TXT record in Admin Console.2

  2. 02Account creation

Review automatic account creation before applying the verified domain, and turn it off if SCIM will manage access.2

Where it trips It may already be on when the domain is applied.2

What we do We check it before the domain goes live, so no one is added outside your directory.

  3. 03Single sign‑on

Connect your identity provider and set each product’s sign‑in policy: Required, Optional or Off.2

Where it trips Requiring it without a global admin who can still sign in can lock the admins out.2

What we do We keep a tested way in for an admin before anything is required.

  4. 04Directory sync

Turn on SCIM, pilot one or two groups, then give the synced groups the workspace.2

Where it trips SCIM overwrites changes made in the workspace: people are removed in the identity provider, or the next sync restores them.3

What we do We make your directory the one place access changes, and write that down for IT.

  5. 05Owners

Name owners for workspace access, local runtime policy, Codex cloud, connected systems and reporting.2

  6. 06Roles and seats

Set membership, seats, groups and custom roles, and test sign‑in as a typical member.2

  7. 07Models

Turn on models, several of which are off by default, and set the defaults for Chat, Work and Codex.2

  8. 08Work Cloud

Turn on Work Cloud, then local computer access, after reviewing its security policies.2

Where it trips Local computer access with Work Cloud is not zero data retention.5

What we do Where you need zero retention, it stays off.

  9. 09Local Codex

Deliver requirements.toml to local Codex clients and standardize repository setup.2

  10. 10Codex cloud

Turn it on, install the source‑system integration and limit repository access.2

Where it trips Codex cloud is not covered by the BAA, so it must not touch health data.11

What we do In a workspace that holds health data, it stays off.

  11. 11Apps and connections

Review and turn on each plugin, app and connection, testing with non‑sensitive data and the least access.2

Where it trips Apps are off by default on Enterprise, and installing a plugin does not grant access to its apps or data.8

What we do We turn on each connection for the teams that need it, and test it with their own permissions.

  12. 12Governance

Send workspace analytics, the Analytics API and the Compliance API into your security tools.2

Where it trips Compliance records are kept 30 days on OpenAI’s side.10

What we do We stream them out from the first day, so nothing ages out.

  13. 13Check every boundary

Test each boundary with representative identities and record the results.2

What we do The record is handed over with every setting.

What should you know before you start?

What a buyer asks first, from OpenAI’s own pages as read in October 2026.

Where it runs

OpenAI’s service

An Admin Console for the tenant, with workspace settings under it. A global admin is not automatically an owner of every workspace.1

Price

Quoted by sales

Enterprise is priced in a sales contract, on a credit rate card or in US dollars by usage.1 Business is $20 a user a month billed annually, for 2 to 200 seats.1, 12

Data residency

Ten regions

Data at rest in any of ten regions, among them the US, Europe, the UK, Canada, Japan and India, with inference kept in the US, Europe or the UAE.6

Your own keys

EKM

Your own keys in AWS, Azure or Google Cloud on eligible workspaces, turned on by OpenAI. A revoked key can’t be restored, and leaving EKM takes a new workspace.13

HIPAA and FedRAMP

With conditions

A BAA for sales‑managed Enterprise under a Regulated Workspace, never for Business.14 FedRAMP Moderate is a separate version of Enterprise, chat only, and existing workspaces can’t be converted.15

Audit

Compliance API

An append‑only log stream for your security tools, kept 30 days on OpenAI’s side. Not every shell command, browser action or app call appears in it.10

Is it the right one for you?

ChatGPT Enterprise is the strongest start when you want one tool for every team, and when the work is split across Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, since it reaches both through connectors.7 If the company lives entirely in Microsoft 365, Microsoft 365 Copilot already sits on your permissions; in Google Workspace, Gemini Enterprise does. Where code and long analysis matter most, Claude Enterprise puts Claude Code in every seat.16 Our comparison sets the four side by side, and where the data can’t leave the building, private AI on your own hardware fits instead.

How does an engagement start?

The way every enterprise AI engagement runs: four stages, one team throughout, starting with a call.

  1. 01AssessWe talk with each team, list the tools and data in play, and pick the first uses worth doing.
  2. 02Set upThe platform configured with your IT and security teams: identity, data boundaries, connectors and audit.
  3. 03BuildThe first assistants, agents and connections, joined to your systems and tested on real work.
  4. 04CoachTeam by team, with champions and playbooks, then we measure use and keep improving it with you.

Questions

How is ChatGPT Business different from Enterprise?

Business is self‑serve at $20 a user a month billed annually. It has no SCIM, own keys, custom roles, Compliance API, retention or residency controls, or BAA; those come with Enterprise.1

Can we use it with health data?

Only on a sales‑managed Enterprise workspace with a Regulated Workspace and a signed BAA, and only for the covered features. Codex cloud is not covered, and third‑party connectors need their own BAA.14

Does it include API use?

No. ChatGPT subscriptions don’t include API usage, so budget for it apart if you build on the API.1

We already have licenses. Can you help?

Yes, and it is the most common place we start. We review the setup as it stands, fix what keeps people from trusting it, join it to your systems, and coach each team on its own work.

Setting up another platform?

We set up all four, and compare them side by side.
